Project outputs and major activities

Through an innovative set of investments in resilience, ZRBF is working to break these cycles of poverty and food insecurity entrapping the country’s most vulnerable communities.

Disaster Risk Reduction

Establishing/revival of Disaster Risk Reduction structures and development of Community Adaptation Action Plans.

Social Safety Nets

Establishing Social Safety Nets- new and revived Village Savings and Lending (VS&L) groups and innovative social safety net approaches (grain banks, promoting micro-insurance).

Youth Entrepreneurship

Promotion of Youth entrepreneurship through enterprise education and development, to train youth entrepreneurs and unemployed youths who intend to start businesses

Animal health management

Promote livestock management, to reduce spread of diseases and poverty deaths. Cattle Pen Fattening has been promoted . It is a very lucrative business in Zimbabwe. Cattle pen fattening involves the feeding of beef cattle with a protein balanced, high-energy diet. Farmers are now more resilient to livestock stresses and shocks.

Crop and agro-forestry production

Building resilience of crop production under climate change. The project is promoting crop production through nutrition sensitive crop, and agro-forestry production.

Youths Skills Trainings

Youths capacitation to diversify into off farming livelihoods.

Climate Smart Agriculture

Adoption of climate smart agriculture approaches.

Fodder Production

Adoption of fodder production e.g. velvet bean, forage sorghum.

Diversified crop production,

Diversified crop production, cash cropping and nutritious crops production for household income and food security and resilience building.
